Ouma Sananikone

Based in New York, Ouma Sananikone is currently an independent director at Innergex (Canada, TSX: INE) and Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation (US, NYSE: MIC).

She previously held the position of President of Smarte Carte (United States) and EvolutionMedia (Australia), and recently left her position as an independent director at the Caisse de depot et placement du Québec. She has also served as an Honorary Fellow with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission for the United States on behalf of the Government of Australia.

Having spent more than 30 years in finance as an executive and director, Ouma Sananikone has acquired extensive industry experience (especially in investment management) that encompasses all asset classes, including private equity, infrastructure and real estate. She was CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management (Australia) and EquitiLink Group (Australia, New Zealand, US, Canada and UK), as well as founding Managing Director of BNP Investment Management (Australia ).

Ouma has always been involved in her community, notably as a trustee of various arts, educational and charitable organizations, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Ouma holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from the Australian National University as well as a master's degree in commerce (economics) from the University of New South Wales. She was awarded the Australian Government's Centenary Medal for services to Australia's finance industry.
