Ismael Nieves

Vice President, Fermentation R&d at Meati Foods

Ismael Nieves has extensive experience in the field of fermentation and biofuels. Ismael most recently held the position of Vice President of Fermentation R&D at Meati. Prior to that, they worked at Cargill as a Fermentation Technology Manager, where they were responsible for establishing project pipelines and overseeing technology development and scale-up. Before joining Cargill, Ismael served as the Project Director/Chief Process Engineer at the Stan Mayfield Biorefinery Pilot Plant, where they oversaw daily operations and testing of biomass for biofuel production. Ismael also worked as a Senior Process Engineer at the University of Florida, where they focused on the development and scale-up of biomass to ethanol processes. Ismael Nieves has a strong background in research and development, process engineering, and project management in the fermentation industry.

Ismael Nieves received a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in 2001. Ismael then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Engineering from the University of Connecticut, which they successfully completed in 2007.
