Senior Software Developer at Metrics Design Automation

Shona Weldon has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Shona started their career as a Programmer at Maritime Information Technology, where they implemented data collection software for handheld mobile computers and trained various districts on the program. Shona then worked as an Assistant Bond Trader at Deustche Bank, assisting traders with risk reports, bond valuations, and reconciling trading books.

After that, Shona joined Descartes Systems Group as a Software Engineer, developing an Enterprise Resource Planning application and participating in its installation at Buffalo Rock. Shona also performed performance tuning on all three tiers of the system.

Shona then moved on to Intrexa, where they served as a Lead Software Engineer, establishing coding standards, architecture, and an automated unit test framework for their mobile application. Shona later joined Numerical Technologies as a Software Developer, designing complex algorithms for automated transistor layout software.

Shona's career then took their to Synopsys, where they started as an R&D Software Engineer and eventually became the lead developer for the standard cell routing algorithm in Cadabra. Shona was responsible for research, prototyping, functional specification, design, implementation, unit testing, and customer support.

Later, Shona joined whatIf? Technologies Inc as a Software Developer and Modeling Consultant, specializing in energy supply and demand modeling. Shona worked on the CanESS simulator and was part of the TEFP team studying the reduction of Canada's GHG emissions.

Shona then joined Esterline CMC Electronics as a Design Specialist, prototyping products for the avionics industry and managing projects and software environments. After that, they worked at Acaveo Inc as the Director of Engineering and Senior Software Engineer.

Currently, Shona is a Senior Software Developer at Metrics Technologies, where they implement features for the current SystemVerilog compiler/simulator and works on the next-generation custom hardware simulator. Shona'sroles include compiler implementation, CI/CD flows with GitLab, coordinating the team implementing hardware acceleration, and analyzing modeling results.

Shona Weldon pursued their education at the University of Waterloo - St. Jerome's University from 1993 to 1998. During this period, they obtained a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) degree with an Honours Co-op, Joint Major in Computer Science, Combinatorics and Optimization. It is not specified when Shona attended the MSS or if they completed any degree or field of study there.
