Sustaining Engineering Manager at MicroPort Orthopedics

Francisco Coto has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and academia. Francisco started their career in 2010 at MicroPort Orthopedics, Inc. where they held various roles. From 2010 to 2019, they worked as a Product Development Engineer II, contributing to the development of new products. In 2019, they were promoted to the position of Senior Product Development Engineer. In 2020, they became the Engineering Services Manager, responsible for managing the engineering services department. Later in the same year, they were promoted to the role of Sustaining Engineering Manager.

In addition to their work at MicroPort Orthopedics, Inc., Francisco Coto also worked as a Professor at Universidad de Costa Rica from 2014 to 2016. During this time, they taught mechanics of solids and provided students with a solid foundation in understanding stress and deformation of solid bodies under various loads.

Francisco Coto holds an impressive education history in the field of engineering and medical devices. Francisco obtained their Master's degree in Medical Devices from Tecnológico de Costa Rica, where they studied from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Licentiate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica UCR, from 2010 to 2014. Francisco also holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, which they completed from 2004 to 2010. Alongside their academic qualifications, Francisco has obtained additional certifications. Francisco completed the Six Sigma Black Belt: Fundamentals of Lean and Six Sigma and their Applications course at MicroPort Orthopedics in October 2021. In September 2019, they also obtained a certification under their own name from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
