Dr Mpilwenhle Mthunzi

Dr Mpilwenhle Mthunzi has a diverse work experience in healthcare management and nursing. Their most recent role was as the Director of Clinical Operations at Monash Health starting in August 2023. Prior to that, they were the Operations Director at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre from November 2021 to August 2023. They also served as the Associate Program Director (Turning Point) & Director of Nursing (Statewide Services) at Eastern Health from September 2018 to November 2021.

Dr Mthunzi has also worked as a Sessional Tutor at LaTrobe University from July 2014 to November 2021, where they taught subjects related to Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, and Midwifery. They have experience in clinical service management as the Director of Clinical Services at Malvern Private Hospital from September 2017 to August 2018.

Furthermore, they have completed a Health Management Internship program from January 2016 to September 2017, where they gained exposure to different management environments in the health service sector through six-month placements. Prior to that, they worked as a Part-time After Hours Manager at The Melbourne Clinic from October 2011 to October 2016, which involved providing psychiatric care to patients with various mental health disorders.

Dr Mthunzi has also held positions as the Deputy Director of Nursing at Alpha Hospitals Ltd from May 2010 to September 2011, where they specialized in mental health crisis management for young people, and as a Clinical Nurse Manager at Vista Healthcare Independent Hospital from July 2009 to May 2010, where they provided care to patients with mental health and learning disability issues. Lastly, they worked as a Ward Manager at West London Mental Health NHS Trust from June 2008 to July 2009, overseeing acute admission wards and providing integrated care to patients in West London.

Dr. Mpilwenhle Mthunzi completed their education as follows:

- From 2013 to 2017, Dr. Mthunzi studied at La Trobe University, earning a Doctor of Public Health and a Master in Health Administration. Their field of study focused on Public Health and Health Administration.

- In 2009 and 2010, they attended Brunel University London, where they completed an MSc in Health Promotion and Public Health, specializing in Public Health.

- From 2000 to 2004, Dr. Mthunzi attended Buckinghamshire New University, where they obtained a BSc in Nursing Studies. Their field of study was Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
