Eryk Nice

VP, Technology Strategy at Motional

Eryk Nice is the current Vice President of Technology Strategy at Motional. Prior to this, they served as Vice President of Next Generation Technology Planning at Hyundai-Aptiv Autonomous Driving Joint Venture from April 2020 to August 2020. From April 2019 to April 2020, they were the Vice President of Autonomous Systems, Autonomous Mobility at Aptiv. Eryk was also the Vice President of Autonomous Systems at nuTonomy from July 2017 to April 2019.

Eryk began their career at Amazon Robotics in March 2005, where they eventually became the Director and Program Lead of Advanced Programs. In this role, they led a team of hardware engineers, solutions designers, systems & performance engineers, product and program managers, infrastructure engineers, operations support roles, and software engineers responsible for the development, testing, deployment, and support of next-generation fulfillment center designs. Under their leadership, the team achieved record-setting labor savings at full-scale production site and successfully transitioned numerous demonstrated improvements to mainline fulfillment centers for network-wide adoption.

In 2015, Eryk took over leadership of the Advanced Programs team after the departure of Kiva’s founder. Eryk was responsible for incorporating 3rd party robotics initiatives into new next-gen designs that were ultimately adopted as Amazon’s formal strategic vision for fulfillment node designs. Eryk also re-organized the team as part of the establishment of an Automation & Robotics Technology group chartered with advancing the robotic integration and control

Eryk Nice has a MS in Control Systems from Cornell University and a BS in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from Hood College. Eryk also has a degree from SJPH.

Eryk Nice reports to Laura Major, CTO. They are on a team with and Keith Phelps - VP, Information Technology.
