Matt Barnes

Matt Barnes is an experienced legal professional currently serving as EMEA Senior Legal Counsel at New Balance since March 2021. Prior to this role, Matt held the position of Head of Legal at The Rugby Football League from March 2019 to March 2021, where responsibilities included overseeing legal compliance, drafting action plans, managing investigations in safeguarding and integrity, and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Earlier experience includes serving as Head of Legal and Compliance at British Cycling and roles at Brabners LLP and George Davies Solicitors LLP, focusing on sports law and regulatory matters. Matt began a legal career as a Trainee Solicitor at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey following education at the University of Oxford and Stockport Grammar School.
