Arne Hinz

Arne Hinz has extensive work experience in the maritime industry. Arne is currently the Chief Engineer at NIWA, a position they have held since August 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the Second Engineer at NIWA, starting in January 2022. Before joining NIWA, Arne worked as a Marine Chief Engineer at Ahoi! Arne Hinz Marine Engineering, where they were involved in contracting, teaching, research, and consulting projects. Arne'srole at Ahoi! Arne Hinz Marine Engineering started in April 2021 and is ongoing.

Arne also has experience in education as a Tutor for Marine Engineering at IMINZ / NMIT at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. Arne held this position from May 2014 to April 2021. In addition, they worked as the First Engineer Officer at Interislander from November 2012 to May 2014.

Arne's earlier experience includes working as the Chief Engineer at Leonhardt & Blumberg from August 2004 to November 2010. Prior to that, they were the Chief Engineer at Oltmann Gruppe from June 2001 to February 2004. Arne began their career in the maritime industry at Hamburg Süd, where they held various positions including Eng Cadet, 3rd Eng, 2nd Eng, Chief Eng, 3rd nautical Officer, and dual licenced and training Officer during the period from June 1981 to July 1996.

Arne Hinz has a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering from Hochschule Flensburg, which they obtained between the years of 1983 and 1987. Additionally, they earned a Degree in Nautical Science - STCW Officer of a Navigational Watch from Hamburg Nautical College, completing this program from 1991 to 1992. Arne'sfield of study in both educational pursuits was focused on maritime studies and marine engineering.
