Security Operations Engineer

Operations · Auckland, New Zealand

Job description

Security Operations Engineer

We are on the hunt for an experienced Security Operations Engineer to join the Orion Health team and play a key role in driving and maintaining the security of our global digital landscape.

In this role, you will be the architect of cyber resilience, ensuring the effective configuration, management, and maintenance of our security tools and processes, with a focus on people at the heart of our operations.

Your mission will be to elevate our security stack, unlocking value within our world-class tools by automating processes, reducing friction, and optimising the human experience for both internal and external stakeholders.

With the potential to progress into a global Security Operations Centre (SOC) management role, this is an opportunity you do not want to miss!

As a Security Operations Engineer at Orion Health, you will:

  • Support our global incident response team, being the lead New Zealand-based security incident responder working in conjunction with our third-party incident management providers.
  • Collaborate with industry-leading security vendors to implement best-in-class security solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to optimise the configuration, management, and maintenance of our security tools and associated processes.
  • Be a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, ensuring our security technology is not just functional but tailored to its purpose, seamlessly integrated, scalable, and aligned with the highest industry standards.

What will you bring?

  • Experience: You have 3 or more years of direct experience in a technical security role or be a high performing SOC analyst or engineer.  Previous experience mentoring junior staff is highly beneficial!
  • Skills: You have a knack for identifying and assessing IT security risks and securing cloud-based solutions. You are well-versed with SIEM integrations and management, CrowdStrike (or similar EDR) and understand Office 365 security best practices. Knowing your way around vulnerability management tooling, and cloud security tooling is advantageous.
  • Characteristics: You have a ‘get things done’ mindset. With strong communication skills, you have no issues building relationships and translating complex issues for diverse audiences. By nature, you have an analytical mindset and problem-solve with perseverance.
  • Qualifications: Security certifications such as CISSP or CISM, and AWS or Azure certifications are valued.
