Brian Apps

Brian Apps has over 20 years of work experience in software engineering and development. Brian is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Osler Diagnostics since April 2023. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Software Architect at Caristo Diagnostics from December 2020 to April 2023. From October 2017 to December 2020, they worked as a Senior Developer at Oxford Semantic Technologies.

Brian has also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Oxford Nanoimaging, where they were responsible for designing and implementing the Nanoimager desktop application and supporting infrastructure. Brian has experience in using various programming languages including C++ 11, QT, OpenGL, Python, Flask, Django, and plotly.js.

Before that, Brian worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Perspectum Diagnostics Ltd, where they designed and implemented medical imaging software for assessing liver disease using C++ 11, QT, ITK, and VTK.

Brian also worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Siemens Molecular Imaging, where they led two full product iterations, introduced continuous integration, mentored other team members, and coordinated regulatory documentation. Brian has experience in overcoming technical challenges and has led teams in their roles.

Additionally, Brian has worked as a Team Lead/Group Technical Lead at Schlumberger Oilfield UK Plc, where they led the development of DesignPro, a software tool for designing and selling artificial lift solutions. Brian has led teams and formulated iterative algorithms using CFD libraries.

During their tenure at Williams F1, Brian worked as a Software Engineer and contributed to the development of race strategy pitwall software. Brian also developed backend optical recognition software for scraping timing information from a live television feed and contributed to the driver-controlled vehicle simulator.

Earlier in their career, Brian worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Celoxica, where they investigated tools to translate ISO C into Handel C. Brian also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at RCP Consultants Ltd, where they designed and implemented FX trading and financial datafeed software for Reuters and led a team in rationalizing the AutoLocate product.

Overall, Brian Apps has a diverse range of work experience in software engineering, architecture, and development, with a focus on medical imaging, preclinical imaging, artificial lift solutions, and racing strategy software.

Brian Apps attended Brunel University London from 1988 to 1992, where they completed the Special Engineering Programme.
