Laura Rusu

Laura Rusu has extensive experience in media and public relations, with a focus on advocacy and nonprofit work. Laura has worked at Oxfam America in various roles, including as the Director of Media and Public Relations (interim), Associate Director, and Senior Press Officer. At Oxfam, they developed and executed media strategies for campaigns on issues such as poverty, hunger, climate change, and gender equality. Laura also served as a senior advisor to the organization's executives and contributed to international media efforts at major conferences. Prior to their time at Oxfam, Laura worked at Witeck Communications as a Strategist, where they developed and implemented marketing and media relations strategies for corporate and nonprofit clients. Laura also managed major corporate sponsorships efforts and conducted market research. Additionally, Laura has interned at the United Nations Population Fund, Open Society Foundations, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International USA, where they gained experience in media relations, advocacy, and human rights work.

Laura Rusu has a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University's SIPA program. Laura'sfield of study in this program included Human Rights, International Media and Communications. Laura also obtained a Summer Study Certificate in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford, with a focus on Women's Human Rights. For their undergraduate studies, Laura attended Indiana University Bloomington, where they earned a Bachelor's degree with a major in Political Science and French, and a minor in Art History. During their undergraduate years, they also spent a study abroad year at Sciences Po Strasbourg.
