Ben Swift has a diverse work experience in the field of microbiology and diagnostic testing. Ben started their career as the Director of Research and Development at PBD Biotech in 2014, where they developed innovative technology for diagnosing bacterial infections. Ben then joined the Royal Veterinary College, U. of London in 2017 as a Lecturer in Antimicrobial Resistance and Research Fellow, focusing on TB and other pathogen diagnostics, as well as antimicrobial resistance. In 2022, Ben worked as a Consultant for a Biotech Consultancy, providing expertise in microbiology and advising on novel treatment options for infectious diseases. Ben also worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Nottingham from 2014 to 2017, developing a patented technology for detecting live bovine TB cells. Ben's experience spans research, development, and consultancy in the field of microbiology and diagnostics.

Ben Swift completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biotechnology at the University of Nottingham from 2006 to 2009. Ben then pursued their Master of Research (MRes) in Microbiology at the same institution from 2009 to 2010. Ben continued their education at the University of Nottingham, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology from 2010 to 2014.
