Bioinformatics Scientist at Phase Genomics

Tara Rickman has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics. Tara is currently working as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Phase Genomics since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where they held the position of Bioinformatics Specialist from January 2021 to August 2022. During their time at the university, they also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher and obtained their MS in Plant Pathology and Entomology with a concentration in Bioinformatics. Their thesis focused on a robust GWAS in sweetpotato USDA germplasm, resulting in the identification of candidate genes associated with culinary traits and organic acids/sugars of interest in sweetpotato.

Before their tenure at the University of Tennessee, Tara worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Millsaps College from November 2014 to December 2017. Tara graduated from Millsaps College with a BS in Biology in 3.5 years. Additionally, they gained research experience as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at North Carolina State University from May 2017 to August 2017 and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Loyola University Chicago from May 2016 to August 2016.

Tara Rickman earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree from Millsaps College, where they attended from 2014 to 2017. Tara then pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Plant Genetics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, from 2018 to 2020.
