Robert James

Robert James has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Robert currently holds the position of Director, Advanced Research at Scale Biosciences since April 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Director, Chemistry at Inscripta, Inc. from April 2021 to September 2022. Before that, they worked at Encodia, Inc., where they held various roles including Director of Chemistry from July 2020 to March 2021, Staff Scientist and Chemistry Team Lead from April 2019 to July 2020, and Senior Scientist and Chemistry Team Lead from September 2017 to April 2019.

Robert also worked as a Scientist at Molecular Assemblies from February 2016 to August 2017 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at SRI International from January 2015 to October 2015. Robert started their postdoctoral career as a Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Santa Cruz, where they initiated a global health drug discovery research program and secured continued funding from prestigious foundations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Carlos Slim Foundation. Robert's academic journey began as a Graduate Student at The Scripps Research Institute, where they specialized in a yet-undisclosed field of study from 2006 to 2012.

Robert James completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Duke University between 2002 and 2006. Robert then pursued further education at Scripps Research, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from 2006 to 2012.
