Darren Fung began their career in 2009 as a Refrigeration Engineering Intern at Michigan State University. In 2010, they held a Sales Intern position at Southwestern Company and two Undergraduate Instructional Assistant positions at Michigan State University. In 2011, they were a Software Tools Developer (Software Tools Automation) at GE Aviation and an Undergraduate Instructional Assistant - Matlab at Michigan State University. In 2017, they joined Meggitt as an Aerospace Engineer. In 2019, they became a Senior Research and Development Engineer at FemtoMetrix, Inc. and in 2021 they began their current role as Technical Project Manager at Second Order Effects, Inc., managing all aspects of Engineering, Finance, and Communications for customers ranging from 2-person garage startups to Fortune 500 aerospace companies.

Darren Fung has a diverse educational background. In 2011, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. Darren then completed the Edison Engineering Development Program in 2015, earning a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science. Following this, they earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Cincinnati in 2015. In 2018, they obtained two certifications from freeCodeCamp: a Responsive Web Design Developer Certification and a JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures Certification, both in the field of Web Page, Digital/Multimedia and Information Resources Design. Additionally, in 2014, they obtained a Six Sigma Greenbelt certification.
