Alvaro Quintana's education history begins in 1977, when they enrolled at the Universidad de la República to pursue a degree in Medicine. Quintana, completed their studies in 1985, obtaining an MD in the field of Medicine. Following this, Quintana attended the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London from 1988 to 1989. During this period, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Medical Microbiology.
