Michael Mangone

Vice President Corporate Development at Simcha Therapeutics

Michael Mangone has over 8 years of professional experience in the healthcare industry. Michael began their career in 2013 as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University Medical Center, where they developed a preclinical research platform for screening, optimizing, and validating lead compounds with targeted activity against an aggressive form of B-cell lymphoma. Michael also led a team of 4 medicinal chemists, molecular biologists, and computational biologists in IND-enabling studies on a novel class of NFkB inhibitors as anti-tumor agents.

In 2016, they took on the role of VentureLabs Fellow at Flagship Pioneering, where they generated and presented company creation strategies based on cutting edge science and validated venture hypotheses by interviewing KOLs from academic, medical and business backgrounds.

In the same year, they also became an Intern at Mid Atlantic Bio Angels, where they managed, pre-screened and recruited incoming deal flow for the angel investment group, performed due diligence on prospective investment opportunities, and co-managed 1st Pitch Life Science - a quarterly event that enables start-up companies to pitch to local investors.

In 2013, they also worked as a Consultant at LiveCircle and The Solution Lab, Inc. At LiveCircle, they developed an initial value story for target customer market (home health agencies), based on quantification of system cost reductions and productivity increases. Michael also performed market research to identify the best suited target market for product launch.

In 2017, Michael became a Senior Consultant and Consultant at ClearView Healthcare Partners. In 2019, they took on the role of Vice President, Business Development and Operations at Origin Biosciences and Phoenix Tissue Repair, Inc. Finally, in 2022, they began their current role as Vice President Corporate Development at Simcha Therapeutics.

Michael Mangone obtained their AB in Molecular Biology from Princeton University in 2005. Michael then went on to pursue a PhD in Pathobiology from New York Medicine Jobs, which they completed in 2013. In the same year, they also obtained a Certificate in the Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry Program from Stony Brook University's Center for Biotechnology.
