Andrew Medlin

Lead Physics Engineer at Sledgehammer Games

Andrew Medlin has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Andrew began their career as a Research Scientist at CSCS, where they focused on developing and coordinating industrial simulations. Andrew then joined Midway Games as a Senior Programmer, where they specialized in developing in-game vehicle physics for various gaming platforms.

Following their time at Midway Games, Andrew worked at Petrosys Pty Ltd as a Software Developer, creating mapping and visualization software for oil wells and seismic surveys. Andrew later joined StarPlayit Pty. Ltd. as a Software Consultant before transitioning to Signostics Limited as a Senior Software Engineer. At Signostics Limited, they developed embedded applications for handheld medical devices and conducted research in medical imaging algorithms.

Andrew's career then took him to Seeing Machines, where they held multiple roles including Core Technology Software Engineer, Director of Data & Validation, and Staff Algorithm Software Engineer. During their tenure at Seeing Machines, they worked on analyzing, testing, and profiling embedded machine learning algorithms for automotive applications, and they led a multifunctional data and validation services group.

After their time at Seeing Machines, Andrew joined Geoscience Australia as a Scientific Software Engineer, focusing on the development of high-performance scientific computing codes for seismic tomographic imaging. Currently, they are working at Sledgehammer Games as a Lead Physics Engineer, leading the physics engineering team and contributing to gameplay systems.

Throughout their career, Andrew has demonstrated expertise in various programming languages and a deep understanding of software development practices. Andrew has also showcased strong project management skills, particularly in driving validation and quality assurance processes. Overall, Andrew Medlin's work experience reflects their versatility and proficiency in software engineering and scientific computing.

Andrew Medlin obtained a Graduate Certificate in Business & Technology from UNSW from 2011 to 2013. Before that, they pursued a PhD in Computational Physics from UNSW between 1994 and 1998. In 1993, they completed a Bsc (Hons) in Physics, also from UNSW. Andrew Medlin's education began with a BSc in Physics from Flinders University, which they earned from 1990 to 1992.

In addition to their formal education, Andrew Medlin also holds several certifications. Andrew achieved the Codility Golden Award for the Palladium 2020 Challenge in May 2020. In December 2016, they obtained a certificate in Machine Learning from Coursera Course Certificates. Furthermore, in May 2014, they became a MathWorks Certified MATLAB Associate, certified by The MathWorks.
