Jon Bate

Jona Bate has a diverse range of work experience in the energy industry. Jona started their career at Sgurr Energy as a Noise and Vibration Consultant, where they conducted assessments and monitoring for wind farms. Jona then moved to First Wind, where they held multiple roles, including Production Assurance Engineer, SCADA Engineer, and Manager of Data Analysis. At First Wind, they focused on optimizing operational assets and building a reporting system for wind and solar generation assets.

Following their time at First Wind, Jona worked at Sunverge Energy as a Senior Manager of Analytics and later as a Product Manager of Analytics. In these roles, they were responsible for analyzing the performance of solar integration systems and developing algorithms for enhanced functionality.

Jona's next position was at 8minutenergy Renewables, where they served as the Manager of Storage Optimization. Here, they led the design of a dispatch controller for a combined PV + Storage generation facility and oversaw the integration of software and hardware.

Jona then joined Galvanize Inc as a Data Science Immersive participant before becoming a Data Science Consultant at Generate Capital Inc. Currently, Jona holds the role of VP of Data Science at Swell Energy.

Jona Bate attended Galvanize - San Francisco, SoMa in 2018, where they pursued a Data Science Immersive program. Prior to that, they completed their MSc in Acoustics and Music Technology at The University of Edinburgh from 2006 to 2007. Jona'seducation history also includes a BSc in Physics from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, where they studied from 2003 to 2006.
