Clinical Research Coordinator, Infectious Disease Implementation Research at Telethon Kids Institute

Jessica Ramsay has a diverse work experience in the field of microbiology and infectious diseases. Jessica started their career in 2011 as a Locum Biomedical Scientist at St George's, University of London, where they conducted research on antimicrobial resistance. Jessica then worked as a Locum Biomedical Scientist at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust, and The Doctors Laboratory, where they examined bacteriology specimens and diagnosed virology specimens.

In 2014, Jessica joined PATHWEST LABORATORY MEDICINE WA as a Medical Scientist, where they examined complex and routine bacteriology specimens and performed bacteria identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Jessica also worked at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) as a Laboratory Quality Manager, where they provided technical support to a bacteriology laboratory and developed quality control systems.

In 2016, Jessica became the Bacteriology Manager/Microbiologist at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), where they managed the bacteriology lab and ensured collaboration with the Ministry of Health laboratories. In 2017, they joined the Telethon Kids Institute as a Clinical Research Coordinator, focusing on infectious disease implementation research.

Jessica also had international experience, serving as a Global Influenza Program Intern at the World Health Organization in 2018. Currently, they are working as an Epidemiologist at the Department of Health (WA Health).

Throughout their career, Jessica has gained experience in various laboratory techniques, including fluorescent staining, gene amplification systems, and the use of laboratory information systems.
