Overview:

The Carey School, a Preschool through 5th grade independent school in San Mateo, California, seeks an Extended Care Aide for the 2024-2025 school year. This part-time position begins in August 2024 and involves supervising students in Preschool through 5th grade during after-school hours. The Extended Care Aide is accountable to the Auxiliary Programs Director

Responsibilities:

The Extended Care Aide assumes all responsibilities assigned by the Auxiliary Programs Director. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and supervising indoor and outdoor activities for Preschool-5th grade participants.

  • Providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for all students in their care.

  • Communicating thoughtfully and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Following and implementing school safety and disciplinary measures and procedures.

  • Preparing and leading outdoor group games and hands-on art and STEM projects.

  • Providing homework assistance and academic support.

  • Maintaining sign-in/out records and following all related procedures.

  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of after-school spaces and materials.

  • Collaborating with colleagues to plan and implement programming.

  • Demonstrating professionalism at all times by upholding the school's values and supporting its leadership.

  • Operating in a friendly, flexible, and cooperative manner with all members of The Carey School community.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with elementary age children is required.
  • Early Childhood Education/Child Development units are strongly preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for games, outdoor play, and education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective multitasker and self-starter.

Additional Information:

  • Position Type: Part Time, School Year
  • Hours: 2:30-6pm; Some Evening Hours
  • Pay Range: $20-25 hourly, non-exempt position
