Deborah Crawford is the Vice Chancellor for Research at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Deborah previously served as the Vice President for Research, Innovation & Economic Impact at George Mason University from May 2016 to August 2020. Prior to that, they were the Director of ICSI - International Computer Science Institute from September 2014 to April 2016. Deborah Crawford began their career as a Senior Vice Provost for Research at Drexel University from September 2010 to August 2014. Deborah then served as a Senior Executive at the National Science Foundation from January 1993 to August 2010.
Deborah Crawford completed their postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Deborah then earned their Ph.D. from the University of Bradford. Crawford holds a BS Eng from the University of Glasgow. Deborah also attended Bannerman High School and Caledonia Primary School.
