Magdalena Lis

Magdalena Lis has extensive work experience in analytics, data science, and machine learning. Magdalena is currently serving as the Head of Analytics & Data Science at Toyota Connected Europe, where they previously held the position of Data Science Lead and acting Head of Analytics and Data Science. Magdalena also took on the role of interim Program Lead. Prior to this, they worked as an Advisor for various private and public organizations starting in November 2017. Magdalena also worked as an Advisor (Responsible AI) for the Centre for Data Ethics & Innovation from May 2020 to March 2021. Magdalena served as the Head of Machine Learning & Data at Factmata from February 2019 to May 2020, during which the company was acquired by Cision. Magdalena's earlier experience includes working as the Head of Analytics at SpeechIntelligence.com from 2017 to 2019, where they were recognized with the AI Award for Best Innovation in NLP 2018 for Gweek Speech Intelligence Analytics. Magdalena also held the role of Advisor in the area of Speech Analytics Product and Machine Learning strategy from 2019 to 2020. Magdalena began their career as a Project Manager (language technology) at Oxford University Press from July 2015 to September 2017. Magdalena then pursued a PhD in Computational Linguistics at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, where they were awarded the prestigious Marie Curie ESR funded by the European Commission. During their PhD, they published 11 peer-reviewed papers including ACM and LREC.

Magdalena Lis started their education at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) in 2007 and completed their Master of Arts (MA) degree with the highest distinction in 2008. Magdalena then pursued further studies at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree between 2010 and 2014.
