Video Director (Denver)
This is a Denver-based (or close surrounding area) role that will require local video production in Denver and surrounding areas. In some cases, you will be required travel to other cities/states for video productions.

As a confident, collaborative individual in our Production Studio, the Video Director is responsible for leading the creative vision and on-set execution for client film projects, including developing and pitching concepts and scripts, participating in pre-production activities like location scouting and shot list development, and leading the on-set experience for talent, crewmembers, and clients.

The Video Director will not only be a creative visionary and storyteller, but they will also possess an understanding of our clients’ marketing goals and brands. This combination is vital to deliver high-impact films that hook, educate, engage, and/or persuade the target audience.

As an empathetic, personable individual, the Video Director values collaboration and enjoys building relationships with team members, crew, and clients. This person also supports and provides assistance to all members of our Production Studio throughout the pre-production, production, and post-production phases of video projects.

Responsibilities 

Here are some, but not necessarily all, of the Video Director’s responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm, develop, and pitch creative concepts to clients and prospects
  • Write and edit scripts to tell compelling client stories
  • Participate in pre-production activities, such as shot list development, location scouting, and pre-interviews with video subjects to build relationships prior to production
  • Lead on-set direction for client video productions
  • Work with on-camera and voice talent to achieve performances that meet the project’s creative vision and the client’s goals
  • Create a warm, inviting, and collaborative on-set experience for talent, crewmembers, and clients
  • Build and grow relationships with crewmembers and clients
  • Collaborate with editors to guide post-production efforts so that final video assets achieve the project’s creative vision and client’s goals. (In addition, possessing strong editing skills is a plus for this position.)
  • Approach projects with empathy toward the audience, the client, and the subject matter
  • Keep a keen eye for detail, especially regarding elements that could “make or break” a film project
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of storytelling and other filmmaking practices, and support a positive culture of genuine enthusiasm for the craft of filmmaking
  • Provide consistent support and assistance to all members of the film team
  • Establish new workflow processes to bolster the quality and efficiency of Production Studio’s work
  • Provide constructive feedback on projects with an eye to how production could have been improved to make for a stronger edit and overall video

What you’ll need 

  • Must be located in or near Denver

  • Proven work history in a film/video director role

  • Demonstrated storytelling ability

  • Deep expertise in film techniques, styles, and tools

  • Aptitude for creative concepting, writing, and pitching ideas to clients

  • Passion for filmmaking and keeping up to date on the latest industry trends

  • Additonal preference: Editing skills are a plus.
