Video Editor (remote)

Job description

Video Editor (Remote)

We’re looking for a skilled, efficient Editor to join our Production Studio.

As an Editor, you’ll unite with the creative teams on our video projects during the post-production phase and successfully bring them across the finish line. You’ll be responsible for assembling live-action footage, music, voice-over, sound effects, and motion graphics to create engaging finished video products that align with client goals.

It’s essential for you to have a strong sense of visual storytelling and a set of polished technical skills. You should also be a natural collaborator, comfortable working directly with clients, account leads, contractors, and colleagues in the Production Studio — producers, directors, animators, cinematographers, and fellow editors.

Responsibilities

As an Editor, you will:

  • Thirst for knowledge. You need to be a student of storytelling and editing techniques, informed on current trends and classic styles alike.

  • Pay attention to detail. You’ll be expected to hold every project you handle to the highest standards for story, sound, and color quality.

  • Maintain meticulous organization. You’ll have to keep your project workflow organized and well-documented, so other team members can easily pick up where you’ve left off.

  • Be a team player. You must be completely open to collaborating with other team members on edits and stories. The client’s goals for the project should always be the most important thing — take feedback with an open mind, but be willing to stand up for your ideas with reasoning and rationale.

  • Juggle competing priorities. You’ll manage multiple projects and tasks of varying complexities to meet deadlines. Actual juggling skills are a bonus.

  • Tell compelling stories. You’ll always be ready to help with story ideas, not to mention editing styles in pre-production.

  • Serve as a conscious critic. You’ll provide constructive feedback on projects with an eye to how production could have been improved to make for a stronger edit and better overall video.

  • Help improve processes. You’re encouraged to suggest ideas about new practices and processes that should be used by everyone in post-production.

What you’ll need

  • A proven work history of video editing experience
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Storytelling principles
    • Composition
    • Editing techniques and post-production workflow
  • Proficiency with professional editing tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to work within client brand guidelines
  • Strong time management skills
  • Passion for filmmaking and keeping up to date on the latest industry trends
  • Bonus skills / experience:
    • Sound Mixing

    • Color Grading

    • DaVinci Resolve

What makes TrendyMinds a great place to work

We believe a happy team is a solid team; it’s as simple as that.

  • Collaborative team environment: Your voice is important, and we believe the best projects include contributions from everyone.

  • Great benefits: 30 paid days off and 401(k) matching. What more could you ask? Oh yeah, we cover 100% of health insurance premiums for all team members and 50% for their spouses and dependents.

  • Flexible schedule: Some people are early birds who love collaborating in person at our offices. Others are night owls who enjoy working from home. We are flexible to accommodate different work styles, times, and locations — within reason and the needs of our clients, of course!

  • New equipment: In order to produce incredible work, we have to have incredible equipment. Sorry if you were hoping for a 7-year-old PC. That’s just not our style.

  • Philanthropy: We like to do our part to help our community. With our philanthropy and donation matching system, we offer you the resources you need to make a difference.

Our values

At TrendyMinds, we aim to hire people who share our values. They are at the center of how we treat each other and our clients, and they act as our guideposts for every decision.

Know the Why behind the What.

We aim to be as honest and transparent as possible with our team and clients. The idea of Why lives at the heart of our LOGIQ process and grounds us with clear reasons for the decisions we make. (You will learn more about our LOGIQ process if you join our team.)

Put relationships first.

We not me. For more than 25 years, we've grown a business built on strong relationships with clients. But we also know that developing trust and a collaborative spirit is equally important to cultivate a healthy team that loves having fun.

Think Ahead and push boundaries.

Our tagline isn’t Think Ahead for nothing. We bring a contagious passion to our craft, always searching for creative ways to challenge ourselves and deliver results, even though things don’t always go according to plan. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, improve, and try again.

Bring your full self.

Show up. Each of us has something unique to contribute. In all that we do, we celebrate diversity and strive to create an equitable, inclusive environment so that everyone feels a sense of belonging.
