Lukasz Cyra has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and organizations. Lukasz is currently working at UNRWA as the Head of the Information Security Office. Prior to this, Lukasz worked at the United Nations for several years, starting as an Associate Information Systems Officer and progressing to become the Cyberecurity Officer and Deputy Head of the Cybersecurity and Risk Management Unit. Lukasz was responsible for IT security, coordinating the global Incident Management process, and implementing the Multi-Factor Authentication system. Before joining the United Nations, Lukasz worked as a Post Doctoral Researcher at the European Commission Joint Research Centre and as a Risk Management Consultant at Adelard. Lukasz began their career as a Security Researcher at Gdansk University of Technology.

Lukasz Cyra has a strong educational background in computer science and mathematics. Lukasz obtained a PhD and MSc degree in Computer Science from Gdańsk University of Technology from 2000 to 2008. Prior to that, they earned an MSc degree in Mathematics from the University of Gdansk between 2002 and 2006.

In 2018 and 2019, Lukasz pursued further education in the field of Cybersecurity Engineering Core, earning a Graduate Post-Baccalaureate Certificate from SANS Technology Institute.

Before entering university, Lukasz attended Gdynia High School No 3 in Poland from 1998 to 2000.

In addition to their formal education, Lukasz has also obtained various certifications to enhance their expertise. Lukasz is a certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert from Microsoft, obtained in May 2023. In January 2019, they obtained multiple certifications from GIAC Certifications including GCIH Gold, GCIA, GDSA, GCWN, GMON, GWAPT, and GSEC. Furthermore, they achieved CISSP and CCSP certifications from (ISC)² in August 2018. Finally, Lukasz obtained certifications in ITIL 4 Managing Professional and PRINCE2 Practitioner from AXELOS Global Best Practice in October 2013.
