Kelsie Chesnut is a skilled researcher with extensive experience in criminology and justice reform. Currently serving as a Senior Research Associate at the Vera Institute of Justice since November 2018, Kelsie has held progressive research roles within the organization. Prior to this, Kelsie was a Lead Researcher and PhD Candidate at UC Irvine from March 2014 to December 2020, where significant projects included examining organizational climates in maximum custody prisons and the implementation of solitary confinement reduction policies. Kelsie's earlier experience includes serving as a Case Manager at Peninsula Family Service. Kelsie holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology, Law and Society from UC Irvine and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from San Francisco State University.
