Jon Hixon, CMP, CDME

Jon Hixon, CMP, CDME has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. Jon currently serves as the Managing Director of Sales at Visit Indy, where they have been since 2019. Prior to this, Jon was the Senior Director of Sales at Visit Indy from 2019 to 2022. From 2014 to 2019, Jon worked as the Vice President of Sales and Services at the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau. Before that, they were the Director, US Association Sales at Tourism Toronto from 2005 to 2014. Jon's career began in 1994 at Experient, where they worked as an Account Executive specializing in registration and lead retrieval services for trade shows. Jon also spent four years at the American Bar Association, where they held various roles including Director of Meetings. Throughout their career, Jon has demonstrated a passion for the industry and a knack for building relationships and executing successful events.

Jon Hixon, CMP, CDME began their education at Walkersville High School, where they obtained their High School Degree in College Preparatory in 1989. Jon then attended the University of Delaware from 1989 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government. In terms of additional certifications, Jon obtained their Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Events Industry Council in January 2004. Jon later obtained their Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) certification from Destinations International in July 2018.
