Elisabeth Knoll

Senior Scientist at Voyager Therapeutics

Elisabeth Knoll has extensive work experience in the field of molecular biology and research. Elisabeth is currently serving as a Senior Scientist at Voyager Therapeutics, Inc., a position they have held since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Scientist II at the same company from January 2021 to July 2022 and as a Scientist from October 2019 to January 2021.

Before joining Voyager Therapeutics, Inc., Elisabeth served as a Scientist-Molecular Biologist at the Institute for Protein Innovation from February 2018 to 2019. Elisabeth also worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Wadsworth Center, NYSDOH from May 2017 to October 2017.

Elisabeth began their professional journey as a Graduate Research Assistant at Wadsworth Center/NYSDOH Health Research, Inc. in September 2011. During this time, they focused on their thesis, which explored the influence of the pre-initiation complex on mediator recruitment in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Elisabeth utilized next-generation sequencing methodologies (NGS) to detect protein-DNA interactions using ChIP and ChIP-seq. Elisabeth also had rotation projects, one of which involved identifying the mosquito species of putative malarial vectors from Peru through RFLP-PCR analysis.

In addition to their research roles, Elisabeth gained experience as a Scoring Project Evaluator at Kelly Services in June 2011 and as a Research Experience for Undergraduates at Wadsworth Center from June 2010 to May 2011. As a Research Experience for Undergraduates, they utilized RNAi knockdown techniques to reduce the expression of key RNA interference genes in Culex quinquefasciatus and explored the effects of mosquito vitality after microinjection. This project was part of a collaborative senior project between their college and the state laboratory.

Before beginning their scientific career, Elisabeth worked as a Peer Educator at Russell Sage College from 2007 to 2010. In this role, they developed campus programs promoting student well-being and better health choices. Elisabeth received professional training from the Rensselaer County Department of Sexual Health.

Elisabeth's earliest work experience includes serving as a Technical Assistant at Barnwell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from 2005 to 2007, where they assisted nurses and medical staff in the care of elderly patients, including special dietary and basic care needs.

Throughout their career, Elisabeth Knoll has displayed a strong commitment to scientific research and has acquired a diverse range of skills in molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, and data analysis.

Elisabeth Knoll earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology from The Sage Colleges - Russell Sage College from the years 2007 to 2011. Following this, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biomedical Science, specifically in the field of Molecular Genetics, at the University at Albany, SUNY from 2011 to 2017.
