Gashaw Kebede has over 15 years of experience in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector. Gashaw is currently working for WaterAid Ethiopia as the Director of Technical Services (DTS), a position they have held since October 2020. In this role, they are responsible for coordinating, managing, and reporting on the implementation of WaterAid's programmes and projects, ensuring adherence to international and organizational standards. Gashaw also managed the country-level WASH team members and program budget.

Before joining Plan International, Gashaw worked at the WASH Program Office in a government agency, where they served as a WASH Technical Management Specialist. In this role, they coordinated, monitored, and evaluated WASH programs implemented with assistance from international organizations such as the World Bank, ADB, and DFID. Their responsibilities included working on program documents, field supervision, quality control of construction projects, and providing technical skill transfer.

Earlier in their career, Gashaw worked as an Engineer at the Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA). Their work involved studying, designing, and supervising water supply, irrigation, and infrastructure projects. Gashaw handled projects related to potable water supply, sanitation, hygiene, irrigation, and drainage systems.

Gashaw's expertise also extends to water resources management, as they previously served as the Water Resources Team Leader at ARDB. Throughout their career, Gashaw has developed a strong track record in program management, technical expertise, and team leadership within the WASH sector.

Gashaw Kebede obtained their Engineer's Degree in Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering from Arba Minch Water Technology Institute during the years 1998 to 2003. Gashaw then pursued a Master's Degree in Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering at Arba Minch University from 2008 to 2010.
