Bioinformatics Scientist at Xbiome

Ravin Poudel, Ph.D has extensive experience in the field of bioinformatics. Ravin began their career in 2008 as a Research Student in the Lab of Dr. Jose Herrera at Truman State University. In 2011, they became a Summer Intern (SURP) at the University of Pittsburgh. From 2012 to 2013, they were a Research Assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital in Harvard Medical School. From 2013 to 2018, they were a Graduate Research Student at the University of Florida. From 2018 to 2020, they were a Computational Biologist at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS). Currently, they are a Bioinformatics Scientist at Xbiome, where they are investigating bacterial immune-oncology potential for designing Cross Reactive Antigens (CRAgs) and Live Bacterial Product (LBP) based cancer therapeutics. Ravin is also developing computational workflows and infrastructure using snakemake, dockers, conda, and AWS registry, and analyzing various omics data (MGS, WES) from patient and mouse model to support neoantigen, microbiome, and CRAgs based therapeutics.

Ravin Poudel, Ph.D. completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, General from Truman State University between 2008 and 2012. Ravin then went on to obtain their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Plant Pathology/Metagenomics/Network Models from the University of Florida between 2015 and 2018. Ravin has also obtained seven certifications from LinkedIn and Coursera, including Advanced Python: Working with Databases (2021), Bayesian Optimization with Python (2020), Create Your First Web App with Python and Flask (2020), Academic Research Foundations: Quantitative (2018), Building a Recommendation System with Python Machine Learning & AI (2017), pandas Essential Training (2017), and Photography: First Steps (no year specified).
