Ravi Ramenani

Co-founder/head Of Applications at Zafrens

Ravi Ramenani has extensive work experience in the life sciences industry. Ravi currently serves as the Director of Applications at Zafrens, a lifesciences products company focused on cellular analysis and genetic code functionality. Prior to this, Ravi worked at 10x Genomics as a Senior Product Manager, where they managed the Immune profiling product line and was responsible for product roadmap design, on-market product updates, and new product initiatives.

Before joining 10x Genomics, Ravi held multiple roles at Berkeley Lights, Inc. Ravi worked as a Senior Scientist, Genomics, where they focused on developing strategies to scale-up single cell annotation and sequencing methods. Ravi also served as a Single Cell Genomics Scientist, contributing to the understanding of B-cell affinity maturation and developing a "Universal Sample Prep" method for capturing RNA at single-cell resolution.

Prior to Berkeley Lights, Ravi worked at Cell Signaling Technology as an Associate Scientist and later as a Senior Research Associate. In these roles, they led the Sequencing Applications Development team and designed strategies to capture B cell receptor diversity at single-cell resolution. Ravi also developed a novel Monoclonal antibody generation technology through combining Mass Spec and NGS, leading to the identification of monoclonal antibodies through cell-free technology.

Earlier in their career, Ravi worked at 454 Life Sciences, a Roche Company, where they focused on miniaturizing pyrosequencing technology and played a role in the design and launch of the GS Junior DNA sequencer. Ravi also conducted research at the University of Houston, studying the DNA binding properties of the RNA-binding protein CUG-BP1ab in the context of Myotonic Dystrophy. Ravi's work involved using various techniques such as Isothermal Titration Calorimetry and Fluorescence Spectroscopy.

Ravi's work experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, where they conducted research on chromatin remodeling and the effect of TFIIIC on transcription of tRNA genes. Additionally, they gained research experience as a Summer Research Intern at the Indian Institute of Science.

Overall, Ravi Ramenani has a strong background in genomics, cellular analysis, and antibody discovery, with experience in managing product lines, developing novel technologies, and conducting research.

Ravi Ramenani has a Master of Science - MS degree in Biochemistry from the University of Houston. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Technology - BTech degree in Biotechnology from Anna University. Additionally, Ravi has obtained a certification as a CFA Level III candidate from the CFA Institute in December 2012.
