Deel

With Rippling’s firestorm lawsuit against HR task management platform Deel, the once 12.6 billion company’s future is murky at best. Ex-Rippling employee Keith O’Brien confessed to being hired by Deel to commit corporate espionage and was offered relocation to Dubai for safety after getting caught. Elisabeth Diana, Head of Communications at Deel disappeared amid the drama by swiftly exiting the company as more court details reveal a movie-like account with James Bond analogies. Read More

Meta’s Head of Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) division Joelle Pineau steps down amid a crucial push the tech giant is making to surpass OpenAI and Google. The AI assistant and artificial general intelligence race is only heating up. After 8 years at Meta, Pineau leaves a vacant spot as one of the giant’s top AI researchers, most notable for her contributions to flagship LLM Llama and open-source ML framework PyTorch. Based in Montreal, Pineau doubled as a Computer Science professor at McGill University and is leaving Meta to take a beat before jumping into something new. Read More

Yahoo

What once was a major competitor in the internet space, soaring high with the greats of the dot com boom era, Yahoo has since simmered as a brand. The once $125 billion market cap company has decreased to $30 billion with a 1.34% market share. Yahoo appoints previous Paramount Chief Branding Officer Josh Line as the new CMO hoping to rev up the company’s potential to become a big player again and compete with Google’s dominating 89.73% market share or at least rival Bing’s 3.98%. National Security Agency

Gen. Timothy Haugh, the Head of the National Security Agency (NSA), was dismissed by President Trump along with his deputy Wendy Noble. The reason for the firing was not released, but far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer takes credit for the ousting. The dismissal comes on the heels of the Trump Administration laying off several staffers of the DOD intelligence agency. Read More

Spirit Airlines

CEO of Spirit Airlines Ted Christie steps down less than a month after the ultra-low-cost carrier emerged from filing for bankruptcy, leaving a 3.8 billion retention bonus on the table. The Florida-based company reduced its $795 million in debt and secured a $350 million equity investment from incumbent investors during the ban. A tenure marred by a failed merger with JetBlue, increased competition, financial challenges, and the ups and downs of the airline industry during COVID, Christie boards his last flight with steely resilience after 13 years. Ex-UPS CFO Brian Newman takes on a new challenge with a major healthcare player, CVS Health Inc. Newman was appointed EVP and CFO effective April 21. With CVS’s fourth-quarter sales exceeding projected numbers at $97.71 billion, Newman joins at a time of strong financial performance. Read More

USPS Head, General Louis DeJoy, steps down after a 5-year tenure. His exit comes after DODGE attempts, led by Elon Musk, to create efficiencies. President Trump also has plans to allow the Commerce Department to take control of USPS which would sever its independent roots. Read More
