Public org charts can significantly improve every part of a company’s functionality by placing emphasis on the most important aspect of every organization: its people. As 2021 comes to an end, The Org revisits the top ten of our most popular public company org charts and the positions that have piqued the interest of our visitors.

10. Nike

Founded by track and field coach Bill Bowerman and his former Student Phil Knight, Nike is one of the most well-known multinational footwear apparel brands in the world.

The company is valued at an estimated $30.4 billion, making it one of the most valuable sports apparel companies with annual revenue in the United States of $17.4 billion. Nike roughly has 73,000 employees worldwide.

Timothy D. Cook was the most visited position in the Nike org chart. Cook had joined Nike’s board of directors in 2005. Nike President & CEO John J. Donahoe II was the second most visited position in Nike’s org chart.

9. Stripe

Founded in 2009 by brothers Patrick and John Collison, online payment processing software company Stripe is one of the most highly valued, venture-backed private companies in the United States — and the world.

The company has attracted VCs including Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst and Founders Fund and is backed by the likes of Elon Musk and Chris Dixon. After raising a $600 million Series H in March this year, Stripe is currently valued at $95 billion.

Of anyone at Stripe, Chief Business Officer William Alvarado received the most visits to his position page. Alvarado has been with Stripe since its launch in 2011. He graduated from Stanford University with an MBA in 2000 and received a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1995. General Counsel Trish Walsh received the second most amount of visits to her profile.

8. The Walt Disney Company

Founded by Walt Disney in 1929, a small animation studio has grown to become one of the world’s most recognizable brands. In fact, The Walt Disney Company is one of the largest companies by market cap in the United States, its operations include media networks, amusement parks and resorts, entertainment and consumer products. Currently valued at almost $340 billion Disney has an estimated 203,000 employees.

The most visited position on the org chart this year was Disney’s now former CTO, Joseph Inzerillo, who has just left to join SiriusXM. The second most visited position at Disney was Asad Ayaz, the President of Marketing and a 15 year Disney veteran.

7. Netflix

Netflix was founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in 1997. Initially, the company offered DVD rental services and did not launch its first streaming services until 2007. Today, Netflix has over 192 million paid subscribers worldwide and consumes 26% of global streaming traffic.

The streaming giant has over 9,400 full-time workers and has a market cap of $261 billion. Netflix regularly ranks highly on lists for companies with the best cultures. In addition, Netflix gives its employees unlimited paid time off, flexible work hours and up to one year of paternity leave.

Greg Peters, Netflix’s CPO and COO, received the most amount of views to his position page. A graduate of Yale University, Peters was previously SVP, CE Product Development at Macrovision. The next most visited position in the org chart was that of David Hyman, Netflix’s Chief Legal Officer.

6. Meta

Meta, previously known as Facebook, is the biggest social networking website in the world. It has over 2.9 billion global monthly active users and is currently valued at $81.48 billion.

In recent times, the social media giant has struggled with its poor handling of misinformation, received backlash for creating a toxic space for teenage girls’ and raised alarms around drug cartels and human traffickers using its platform to lure women.

Mike Schroepfer’s position page received the most views this year. Schroepfer is Meta’s CTO and has been with the company since August of 2008. He was previously the VP of Engineering at the non-profit software company Mozilla. COO Sheryl Sandberg, received the second most amount of visits to her position page.

5. Tesla

Contrary to popular belief, Tesla was not actually founded by Elon Musk. The company was founded by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. The company released its first electric car in 2008, and currently has four car models in the market.

The company has surpassed $1 trillion in valuation and is the fifth company in the world to achieve this milestone. There are an estimated over 70,000 employees at Tesla and has regularly ranked highly as one of the world’s most innovative companies.

Vaibhav Taneja, Tesla’s Chief Accounting Officer and Director of Tesla India Motors and Energy private Limited, received the most profile views at the company this year. The graduate of Delhi University was previously a VP at SolarCity, a renewables and environment company and was an accountant at PwC for over 16 years.

4. Apple

Computer software company Apple is the largest company in the world by market cap. Founded by college dropouts Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976, the company wanted to make computers accessible to more people.

Today, there are almost one billion active Apple users and roughly 80,000 Apple employees in the United States. The company is currently facing UK antitrust action over its duopolistic hold on the country’s mobile phone market

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, received the most amount of visits to his org chart position this year. Cook has led Apple since 2011 after Jobs died of cancer. He was previously Apple’s COO and has served as VP for Compaq, a computer company. John Ternus, Apple’s SVP of Hardware Engineering, received the second most amount of clicks to his position page.

3. Microsoft

Microsoft was founded by computer programmers Bill Gates and Paul Allen, who dreamed of developing a new computer system, in 1975. The company’s success led Gates to become one of the youngest billionaires in 1987.

The software giant has a market cap of over $2 trillion and has approximately 181,000 full-time employees. It is the second most valuable brand in the world.

The most visited position on Microsoft’s org chart this year was Scott Guthrie, the company’s EVP of Microsoft Cloud + AI Group. Guthrie has been with Microsoft since he graduated from Duke University in 1997. Satya Nadella, the company’s CEO, received the second most amount of visits to his profile.

2. Amazon

Founded by now-billionaire Jeff Bezos, Amazon started as a website that sold only books. Today, you can buy pretty much anything off the website. The e-commerce company has a market cap of almost $1.7 trillion making it the fifth-largest company in the world.

Amazon has faced multiple controversies around its poor treatment of warehouse workers. Most recently, as a result of the tornadoes in Illinois, six Amazon employees lost their lives after its warehouse collapsed. The company reportedly employs one out of every 153 American workers.

David Clark, Amazon’s CEO of Worldwide Consumer received the most position views on the org chart. Clark has an MBA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and has been with Amazon since 1999 after he graduated. Andy Jassy received the second most visits to his profile.

1. Google

Google’s org chart received the most amount of visits this year. The tech company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University. The company changed its name to Alphabet in 2015, making Google a subsidiary company.

With a market cap of more than $1.9 trillion, Google is the third-largest company in the world. There are now over 150,000 employees at the company.

Google Cloud CEO, Thomas Kurain, received the most amount of visits to his position page this year. Kurain, a Stanford MBA graduate, was previously the President of Oracle, where he had served for over 22 years. Ben Gomes, the SVP of Education at Google, received the second most amount of profile visits.
