Arya Abawi

Arya Abawi has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries.

Starting in 2012, Arya worked as a Rickshaw Runner for Rickshaw Runners of Toronto Media, where they provided transportation services, established a clientele, and negotiated promotions and events with other businesses.

In 2014, Arya interned at both IBM as a Business Intelligence Technical Analyst and Boeing as a Finance Intern.

In 2015, Arya worked as a Business Analyst Co-op at Deloitte Consulting.

From 2017 to 2018, Arya was an Analytics Intern at Café Las Flores.

Their most recent and notable work was at Scotiabank, where Arya held multiple roles from 2018 to 2021. They first worked as a Data Scientist on the Advanced Modeling and Customer Lifetime Value Team, where they developed a new Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) method and productionalized CLV models. They then transitioned to a Machine Learning Engineer role in the MLOps project, where they designed and developed an MLOps system, automated decision tree models, and productionized a customer liquidity prediction tool.

In 2021, Arya joined Acerta as a Machine Learning Engineer.

Arya Abawi completed a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree in Finance and Information Systems from Carleton University from 2011 to 2016. Following that, in 2017 and 2018, Arya pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from the Ivey Business School at Western University. Additionally, Arya successfully passed Level 1 of the CFA Program from the CFA Institute in 2016.
