Tuan Nguyen

Tuan Nguyen has a diverse work experience in the field of biostatistics, data science, and biomarker research. Currently, they serve as the Director of Biostatistics, Biometrics, and Data Science at Alector since December 2021. Prior to this, Tuan worked as the Director of Biomarker Biostatistics at Theravance Biopharma US, Inc. from September 2020 to December 2021, where they provided statistical support in biomarker work for respiratory diseases and clinical work for a Phase 2 Covid-19 study.

Before joining Theravance Biopharma, Tuan held positions at Nektar Therapeutics as the Director of Biostatistics (Data Science and Translational Research) from January 2020 to September 2020. In this role, they supervised junior colleagues and provided statistical support for biomarker analyses in immuno-oncology studies. Tuan also served as the Associate Director of Biostatistics (Biomarker Focus) from September 2018 to December 2019, where they supported biomarker work in immuno-oncology studies and led an intern project on assessing visualization and analysis tools.

From September 2016 to September 2018, Tuan worked at Gilead Sciences as a Manager Biostatistician, overseeing junior colleagues, and providing statistical support for biomarker work in liver disease. Tuan utilized machine learning methods for biomarker identification and integrative analyses.

Earlier in their career, Tuan had roles at Eli Lilly and Company, where they served as a Senior Research Scientist from October 2013 to August 2016, specializing in biomarker statistics for oncology compounds. Tuan also worked as a Research Scientist from February 2010 to October 2013, leading the implementation of innovative analysis methods for biomarkers in personalized medicine.

Tuan's work experience began at WellPoint as an Actuarial Analyst in 2005.

Tuan Nguyen completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mathematics and Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley from 2000 to 2004. Tuan then pursued further education at Rice University, where they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Statistics from 2005 to 2009. Concurrently, they also acquired a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Statistics from Rice University during the same period.
