Manu Kumar has a diverse work experience, starting with an internship at Procter & Gamble in 2012. Manu then became an Amgen Scholar at Stanford University in 2013, followed by a PhD Candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2014. In 2018, they completed an Internship at Merrimack, and in 2019 they were a Fellow at Vida Ventures, LLC, as well as a Scientist II, Computational Biology and Scientist, Computational Biology at RAPT Therapeutics. Most recently, in 2021, Manu Kumar was a Senior Scientist at Asher Biotherapeutics.

Manu Kumar received their Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2014, with minors in Computer Science and Mathematics. Manu then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2019.
