Marijke Unger

Marijke Unger has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Marijke most recently served as the Director of Communications and Engagement at the City of Longmont, where they also held the position of City-wide Communications Manager. Prior to that, they worked as the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications at Water For People, focusing on promoting access to clean drinking water and sanitation services in multiple countries. Marijke also worked as an Organizational Ombuds at UCAR - The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research. Additionally, Marijke has experience in external relations, project management, and media relations through their roles at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Greenpeace, and Raytheon. Marijke has also shown their dedication to fundraising and humanitarian work by participating in the Air Race Classic to raise funds for Wings of Hope. Marijke started their career as an Outreach Coordinator at the National Snow and Ice Data Center and worked as a Managing Editor at Displaytech, Inc. throughout their career, they have demonstrated strong communication and project management skills.

Marijke Unger's education history is as follows:

From 1989 to 1992, Marijke attended the University of Pennsylvania and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Literature.

In 1992, they attended the University of Leiden and completed a Propedeuse degree in English Language and Literature/Letters, which lasted until 1993.

During the same year, Marijke studied at both Middlebury College and Université Paris Nanterre. At Middlebury College, they earned a Master of Arts degree in French Language and Culture, while at Université Paris Nanterre, they obtained a License in the same field.

In 2009, Marijke pursued further education at the University of Colorado Boulder, where they acquired an M.A. degree in Environmental Journalism. Marijke remained there until 2015.

Later, in 2016, Marijke enrolled in a Northwestern University MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) focused on Social Media Marketing.

Additionally, Marijke has obtained several certifications including an Airline Transport Pilot license from the Federal Aviation Administration, which they received in July 2016. In July 2005, they also obtained a Pilot certification from the same institution. Furthermore, they completed a course titled "What is Social?" and received a certificate from Coursera Course Certificates in February 2016.
