Joe Maddox

Fire Chief at City of Union City Government

Joe Maddox has over 40 years of experience in the Union City Fire Department. Joe started in 1979 as a FF/Paramedic and served in that role until 1998. From 1998 to 2010, they worked as a Training Officer. In 2010, they became the Assistant Chief and held that position until 2015, when they were promoted to Fire Chief. Joe currently holds this position.

Joe Maddox has a strong educational background in the fields of organizational leadership, emergency management leadership, public administration, and fire services administration. Joe obtained a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership/Emergency Management Leadership from Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa, which they pursued from 2016 to 2018. During the same period, they also completed a Master's Degree in Emergency Management from the same institution. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2015, Joe pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Public Administration from Columbia Southern University. Their educational journey started with a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Services Administration from Waldorf University, which they earned from 2011 to 2013.
