Clara García Fernández-Muro

Clara García Fernández-Muro holds a PhD in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). She is a lecturer in Applied Economics at that same university and is a researcher at Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (the Complutense Institute of International Studies, ICEI). She was a visiting researcher at the University of California-Berkeley and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Her research career covers two areas: on one hand, financial fragility and exchange-rate and banking crises, and on the other, questions of growth and production-export development. All of this is specialized in two geographical areas having carried out empirical work on East Asia and the Spanish economy. She has two research lines recognized by the Comisión Nacional Evaluadora de la Actividad Investigadora (National Assessment Commission on Research Activities, CNEAI).

She lectures almost exclusively in English, both at the UCM itself and through regular collaborations at IE University and Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, among other institutions. She is currently a member of the Academic Committee of the Doctorate in Economics program at the UCM and was Vice-Dean of Quality Evaluation and Undergraduate Studies at the Faculty of Business and Economics.
