Cara Burgess has a diverse range of work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Cara currently holds the position of Employee Relations Lead at Joby Aviation since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Human Resources Consultant & Coach at a consulting firm in 2021.

From 2018 to 2021, Cara worked at Granite Construction where they started as the Corporate HR Director and was later promoted to this role. In this position, they led a team of four employees and provided executive coaching to enhance talent acquisition and team performance. Cara holds certifications in EQI 2.0 and Caliper.

Between 2015 and 2018, Cara served as the Human Resources Director at Seascape Beach Resort. In this role, they managed various HR functions including recruitment, coaching, training, legal compliance, and policy writing. Cara successfully implemented measures to reduce workers' compensation costs and improve employee safety through the implementation of programs and training.

In 2014, Cara played a key role in the successful launch of the Unscripted Brand at Hampshire Hotels Monterey Bay as the Human Resources Director. Cara was involved in the transition of union employees and executive team during a hostile takeover and also designed and presented management training programs.

Cara's earlier experience includes working as an Associate Channel Marketing Manager at BRG Sports from 2010 to 2014, where they managed various marketing campaigns and negotiated athlete contracts. Cara also co-owned The K-9 Clinic from 2003 to 2009, responsible for various business functions and designing a new training program for therapy dog certification.

In addition, Cara has experience as an HR Manager at Portola Plaza Hotel from 2001 to 2003, where they conducted interviews, screenings, and orientation for new employees. Cara started their career as a Technical Recruiter at Hall Kinion from 1996 to 1997 and Manpower from 1995 to 1996.

Cara Burgess has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a focus on Public Relations/Image Management from CSU Chico.
