Head of Data at Kaiyo

Macklin Fluehr has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Macklin is currently the Head of Data at Kaiyo, where they manage a team and implements algorithms, data pipelines, and insights for the company. Macklin is responsible for architecting and managing the data stack, developing algorithms to improve efficiency, and overseeing data tracking initiatives.

Prior to Kaiyo, Macklin worked as a Data Scientist at Kaiyo, where they designed data infrastructure to make the furniture industry more sustainable. Macklin doubled company margins by designing a custom pricing algorithm and implemented algorithms to improve operational efficiency. Macklin also productionized all machine learning models across the company.

Before Kaiyo, Macklin was a Data Scientist at Loeb.nyc, where they consulted with and built data science algorithms for multiple early-stage startups. Macklin also designed and implemented a templated data science pipeline and invented an NLP preprocessing algorithm.

Macklin also has experience as an Advisor and Head Data Scientist at SummitSync (now part of Cvent), where they designed and deployed data pipelines and developed machine learning models for automation tasks.

Macklin has also worked as a Data Analyst at Flühr Consulting, providing business analytics for startups and non-profits. Macklin co-founded and served as a Co-Founder & Program Architect at Silly Lily, a community sailing program. Macklin was also a Sailing Instructor at Westhampton Yacht Squadron.

Additionally, Macklin co-founded and co-architected a collaboration between Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, Olin College, Ashesi University, and Burro to develop a methodology for student-driven product design for international development. Macklin has also held positions as Vice Commodore of the Brown University Sailing Team, Project Manager at DESINE Lab, and Researcher at Brown Social Entrepreneurship.

Macklin Fluehr attended The Kew-Forest School from 2009 to 2013, where they received their High School Diploma. Macklin then went on to study at Brown University from 2013 to 2017, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with an Independent Concentration in Engineering Design. During their time at Brown University, they also briefly attended Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation in 2014 to study Architecture. Additionally, Macklin Fluehr has obtained several certifications, including a TIPS License from Tips Alcohol in 2016, a Wilderness First Responder certification from Solo in May 2015, a Wilderness First Aid certification from Solo in March 2015, and CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from the American Red Cross.
