Jack Matheson

Associate Vice President Strategy Implementation at Minnesota Historical Society

Jack Matheson has a diverse work experience history. Jack started their career as an Assistant Director for the Ten Thousand Things Theater Company in 2005-2006. Jack then worked as a Tour Stage Manager for the Imagination Makers Theater Company from 2007-2008. In 2008, they joined the Minnesota Historical Society and held various roles, including Program Associate for Distance Learning, Digital Learning Specialist, Talent Management Specialist, and Talent and Internal Communications Manager. Most recently, they served as the Director of Talent and Organizational Development, where they provided leadership and support for the development and implementation of the organization's culture and organizational effectiveness programs. Additionally, Jack was the Founding Chair of the Rainbow Employee Resource Group at the Minnesota Historical Society from 2018-2022, where they contributed to providing education, consultation, and inclusion around queer identities and perspectives within the organization.

Jack Matheson's education history is as follows:

In 2000-2004, Jack studied at the Guthrie Theater and the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with a major in Acting.

In 2017-2018, they attended the University of Wisconsin Stout Graduate School and obtained a Graduate Certification in Instructional Design.

In terms of additional certifications, Jack has acquired various qualifications. In 2014, they became a TimeSlips Certified Facilitator under the guidance of Anne Basting, the National Director of the TimeSlips Storytelling Project.

Additionally, Jack has pursued several certifications related to design thinking and innovation. Jack completed the following courses at IDEO U: "Foundations in Design Thinking," "Business Innovation," "Advanced Design Thinking," and "Human-Centered Strategy." These certifications were obtained in 2021 and 2022.

Furthermore, in 2017, Jack completed the "Adobe Captivate 2017 Essential Training" and "Learning Canvas 2017" courses offered by Lynda.com. Jack also received certification in "Learning Management System (LMS) Fundamentals" from LinkedIn in 2017.

Lastly, Jack obtained an ETHOS (Ethical Organizations) certification from the University of St. Thomas in 2018.
