Niko Mikkola has had a diverse range of roles and experiences throughout their career. Niko started working in 1993 as a Manager of Finance and Accounting at Gynopolar Oy. After that, they joined Nokia in 1995, where they held various positions including R&D Team Leader and Product Program Manager. At Nokia, they excelled in improving product portfolio cost competitiveness and managing business results for multiple product families.
In 2010, they joined the Center for Internet Excellence as Director of Turning Ideas into Business, focusing on business development and feasibility studies for ICT companies. In 2011, they moved to OP Financial Group, where they worked in multiple roles, including Vice President of Asset and Wealth Management, Head of Mobile Channel, and Director of Customer Processes & Data. In these positions, they played a crucial role in leading digital transformation and driving innovation in mobile banking and digital retail channels.
Niko Mikkola's most recent role at OP Financial Group is as the Senior Vice President of Insurance Technology and Competencies, where they oversee the insurance technology division and manages business processes such as customer onboarding and data management.
Throughout their career, Niko Mikkola has demonstrated strong leadership skills, expertise in agile processes and SAFe framework, and a deep understanding of technology investment and portfolio management.
Niko Mikkola completed their M.Sc in Computer Science at the University of Oulu from 1991 to 1998. Prior to that, they pursued their M.Sc in Corporate Finance & Management Accounting at the University of Vaasa from 1989 to 1994.
