Li Dong

Li Dong has a strong background in data science and machine learning. Li started their career at Yonyou Software Co., Ltd. as a Software Engineer Intern, where they co-led the requirement analysis and implementation of new features for the ERP system. Li then worked as a Research Assistant at Soochow University, where they built a crawler to collect stock feedback and developed a model to predict stock trends.

After that, Li joined the Information Sciences Institute as a Graduate Student Researcher, where they implemented a named entity recognition algorithm. Li then transitioned to Outreach as a Machine Learning Engineer Intern, where they implemented an ML algorithm to extract phone numbers from emails. Li quickly moved up the ranks, becoming a Data Scientist and then a Senior Data Scientist. In these roles, they developed ML solutions for out-of-office reply detection and contact referral extraction. Li also proposed, prototyped, and developed the Outreach Insights product.

Currently, Li is working at Outreach as a Staff Data Scientist, leading the Outreach Deal Health Initiative. Li is responsible for assessing the health of each deal and building an end-to-end ML pipeline using Spark.

In addition to their work at Outreach, Li is involved in the investment field. Li is an Investor at Knitwise, Rescale, and UpHonest Capital, where they serve as a Venture Scout. UpHonest Capital is an early-stage fund that has invested in numerous portfolio companies.

Li Dong obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Software Engineering from Soochow University (CN), where they studied from 2012 to 2016. Li then pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, completing their studies from 2016 to 2018. Prior to their university education, Li Dong attended Suzhou High School from 2009 to 2012. In terms of additional certifications, Li Dong obtained a Data Engineering Nanodegree from Udacity in March 2020. Li also completed several online courses, including Introduction to Corporate Finance, Introduction to Operations Management, Introduction to Financial Accounting, Managing Social and Human Capital, and Introduction to Marketing, from Coursera in 2019.
