Gaurav Sehgal has an extensive work experience spanning over several years and various roles in different companies. Gaurav started their career as a Research Assistant at SUNY Stony Brook in 1998. After that, they worked as a Software Engineer at SyncSort Inc from 2001 to 2004. Gaurav then joined Morgan Stanley as a Sr. Software Consultant from 2004 to 2005, followed by a role as a Senior Software Consultant at Microsoft from 2005 to 2006. Gaurav then worked as a Sr. Software Engineer at Bloomberg from 2006 to 2008 and as a Senior Software Engineer at Amazon from 2008 to 2009. Gaurav then joined Yahoo! as a Tech lead from 2009 to 2012, where they worked on the UGC Cloud project. Currently, Gaurav Sehgal is a Principal Engineer II at Smarsh since 2012, where they are responsible for the Design and Architecture of the Enterprise Archive platform.

Gaurav Sehgal earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from St. Stephen's College, Delhi in 1997. Gaurav then pursued a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Network Security from Stony Brook University, which they completed in 2001. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (Magna Cum Laude) from Stony Brook University in 2000. Gaurav had their early education in Computer Science at Modern School, Barakhamba Road from 1982 to 1994. Furthermore, Gaurav has obtained additional certifications in various subjects, such as algorithms and database systems, from Coursera and Stanford University.
