Liz Specht

SVP, Science & Technology at The Good Food Institute

Liz Specht is currently the VP of Science & Technology at The Good Food Institute. Previously, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Colorado Boulder, where they pioneered a bioengineered whole-cell biosensor platform for diagnostics in low-resource settings. Liz also participated in the graduate certificate program for the Center for Science and Technology Policy Research, served as a guest lecturer, and developed and taught summer courses for high-achieving high school students through CU Science Discovery. Prior to that, Liz was the Head Teaching Assistant at UC San Diego Extension for the Photosynthetic Microorganisms Molecular Biology Lab. Liz was also a Doctoral Researcher at UC San Diego Division of Biological Sciences and a Summer Fellow with Engineers for a Sustainable World.

Liz Specht earned their Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from UC San Diego and their B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University.

Liz Specht reports to Bruce Friedrich, Founder & CEO. They work with Sarah David - General Counsel & VP, Administration, Gus Guadagnini - Managing Director, Brazil, and Stephanie Von Stein - Senior Associate Director, International Engagement.
