Kelvin Gillen's work experience begins in 1996, where they worked at Allianz as a Technical Architect / Project Manager until 2000. Kelvin then joined FINEOS as a Senior Project Manager and later became a Process & Change Manager. In 2007, they joined Pinnacle Project Partners, initially as a Manager and later as a Senior Manager. In 2010, they started working at Danske Bank, where they held various senior positions related to strategy and insights. In 2015, they joined Bank of Ireland as a Director, responsible for Customer Analytics, Insights, and Marketing. In 2017, they took on the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors at The Analytics Institute, and also became the Director of Innovation and Transformation at KBC Bank Ireland. In 2019, they became a Lecturer on Digital Transformation in Financial Services at The Institute of Banking. Most recently, in 2023, they became the Group CIO at The Irish Times.

Kelvin Gillen holds an Executive MBA (EMBA) from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, which they completed from 2007 to 2009. Kelvin also obtained a Strategic Management in Banking (SMB) degree from INSEAD in 2015. In 2016, they pursued a Certified Bank Director certification from IOB. Kelvin has taken courses at IMD in 2013, focusing on Taking Charge in New Leadership Roles: The First 90 Days. Additionally, they have completed an EMBA program at the University of Exeter in 2010, specializing in Roundtable for Practising Managers. Kelvin also holds the PMI™ Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. While their start and end years are unknown, they are associated with the University of Limerick, Waterford Institute of Technology, and Sligo Grammar School.
