Ali Moradi

Senior Propulsion Engineer at Venus Aerospace

Ali Moradi has over 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry. In 2021, they began working as a Senior Propulsion Engineer for Venus Aerospace. From 2019 to 2021, they worked for Northrop Grumman as a Senior Principal Propulsion Engineer and Principal Propulsion Engineer. From 2018 to 2019, they worked for Virgin Orbit as a Propulsion Stage Systems Engineer and Propulsion Development Engineer. In 2017, they worked as a Research Fellow for GE. In 2016, they worked as a Graduate Technical Fluid & Thermal Engineering Intern for Intel Corporation, where they designed experiments and executed projects to visualize and characterize non-Newtonian fluid flow in micro-channels, developed and patented an innovative method to thermally and mechanically isolate compute units in harsh external environments, and collaborated on a task force to determine major tool thermal malfunctions. From 2014 to 2016, they held a Research Fellowship at Arizona State University, where they managed a project to determine combustion enhancement effects when flow is subjected to a hyper-accelerated field, analyzed Rayleigh-Taylor instability to maximize mixing and reduce total combustor lengths, performed system analysis on Brayton cycle with inter-turbine burners utilizing high-g combustors, conducted Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis on reacting Rayleigh-Taylor flow using Athena code, and constructed CAD models and built high-g test sections with flow visualization capabilities. From 2013 to 2014, they served as a Teaching Assistant for Experimental Methods for Thermal and Fluid Processes, where they designed and renovated a lab and facilitated labs for 40+ students. From 2011 to 2013, they served as a Teaching Assistant for Aerodynamics and Compressible Flows, where they instructed 100+ students on topics including compressible flow and aerodynamic principles and designed laboratory experiments using wind tunnels, shock tubes, hot wire anemometers, and supersonic nozzles.

Ali Moradi's education history includes a Master of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Arizona State University, which they obtained between 2011 and 2013. Ali also holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Arizona State University, which they obtained between 2006 and 2011. Additionally, Ali has obtained various certifications, including a Tailwheel Endorsement from the Federal Aviation Administration in February 2020, a Private Aircraft Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration in August 2019, an Altitude Diver from PADI in November 2016, an Enriched Air Diver from PADI in October 2016, a Nitrox Diver from SDI TDI ERDI in October 2016, an Advanced Open Water Diver from PADI in August 2009, a Drysuit Diver from PADI in October 2008, and an Open Water Diver from PADI in October 2008.
