Ward Maddux

Ward Maddux began their work experience in 1990 as a Senior Software Engineer at Boeing Defense and Space. Ward then worked as a Software Applications Developer at Evolving Systems from 1994 to 1996. From 1996 to 2000, Ward served as a Principal Software Consultant at Informix Software, where they led requirements analysis and solution design for clients such as Discover Card and MCI. Ward then joined SunGard Higher Education and Public Sector Systems, Inc. in 2001 as a Principal Sales Engineer, working with colleges and universities to evaluate the technical aspects of the Banner student system. In 2011, Ward joined Pivotal Software, Inc. as a Sr. Sales Engineer, where they covered western North America and provided expertise on the Greenplum database. In 2016, they became a Product Manager at VMware in the Data Innovation Lab, a role they held until 2020. Currently, Ward is employed as a Principal Customer Success Manager at Yugabyte, a position they have held since November 2020.

Ward Maddux earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Math from Vanderbilt University from 1985 to 1990. Ward also holds additional certifications, including "Practical First Steps with CockroachDB" from Cockroach Labs, "AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner" from Amazon Web Services (AWS), "Introduction to Distributed SQL and CockroachDB" from Cockroach Labs, "Hands On Essentials - Data Applications" from Snowflake, "S101: ScyllaDB Essentials" from Scylla, "Apache Druid Basics" from Imply, "Hands On Essentials - Data Warehouse" from Snowflake, "Linux Essentials" from Linux Professional Institute (LPI), "YugabyteDB Basics of Distributed SQL Exam" from Yugabyte, and "Sun Certified Java Programmer."
